Hey I’m Blake!Remedial Therapist & Health Coach and owner of Nexus Bodywork Clinic. There’s a few new faces around here AND I’m yet to introduce myself.I used to work in construction, which may have been what gave me chronic lower back pain and shoulder issues, like bursitis. After getting a cortisone shot for my shoulder, I realised there had to be better solutions after there was zero relief from this treatment (wish I knew the side effects and outcomes earlier). This led me to become obsessed with the human body and biomechanics. About 7 years ago, I started my journey in massage therapy, earning my Cert IV and continuing my education to become a remedial therapist in 2018. My experiences with pain and health challenges pushed me to start Nexus Bodywork Clinic. Here, I focus on helping others achieve their best health. My main area of expertise is working with shoulder pathologies and the ribcage because so many people struggle with issues in these areas that are dealing with neck pain, upper back pain, shoulder discomfort or impingement like symptoms.I’m passionate about helping people because I’ve been in situations where I couldn’t find the help I needed for my own health problems. Whether it was lower back pain, shoulder bursitis, or digestive issues, I know how frustrating it can be to not get answers or relief. In my free time, I enjoy studying and reading research about supplements and the mechanisms of which they work and biomechanics. I’m always learning new things to help my clients feel better. If you’re new here or curious about how we can help, feel free to DM us or visit our website at www.nexusbodyworkclinic.com.au. 197A Waverley Road, Malvern East(03) 8351 5342I’m excited to connect with you and help you on your journey to optimal health!#healthcoach #massagetherapist #malverneast #nexusbodyworkclinic

If there’s one pathology that I can really empathise with clients. It’s lower back pain…

For years while I worked in the construction industry I had the oh so common lower back pain that nearly everyone seemed to have that worked in the industry…

You just learn to live with it, to toughen up. Everyone else has it so why should I complain?

I’m here to tell you that there IS a reason for your lower back hurting (there are multiple)

Take a close look at these images and notice the shaded areas through my lower abdomen

This is gas build up within my large intestine AND small intestine…

Funnily enough, I wasn’t even gassy!

There were days I would be driving in the car in so much pain, I would keep adjusting the seat and moving around just to get some relief

I would have a trigger point ball or lumbar support in the car for whenever I needed them

Fast forward 8 or so years, my health had declined, various diet changes and restricting foods

Loss of weight and feeling like I was running on empty all the time…

I had started having heart palpitations

After many doctor visits and blood tests, we were no closer to working out what was going on.

Other than being told, I was having panic attacks…

I wasn’t taking this answer, as I knew deep down, SOMETHING causes these things to happen. There has to be reaction occurring…

It was because of these x-rays shown here that I dug deeper

I found a practitioner Dave O’Brien and we discovered I had something called SIBO and intestinal permeability

We worked together for 6+ months to rectify the issues that came up…

One day I realised that my lower back had not been hurting, for some time now

I had forgotten about it, I was no longer inflamed.

I recently got more x-rays which look COMPLETELY different to the ones shown here as there is NO shaded areas present (gas)

This is a topic I will be researching further as to how these gases can potentially impact the surrounding musculature and lead to chronic pain (not just in your lower back)
If you’ve been dealing with lower back pain (or any other musculoskeletal pain) to no avail with manual therapy or physiotherapy. Get in touch to see if we can helpBlake
