Foot pain can stem from various underlying causes and is a common issue that affects mobility and daily activities. Two of the most frequent conditions associated with foot pain are Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, both of which result from overuse or strain on the foot and lower leg muscles. Achilles tendonitis occurs when the Achilles tendon becomes inflamed or irritated, often due to repetitive activities like running, jumping, or sudden increases in exercise intensity. This condition can lead to sharp pain, swelling, and difficulty walking, particularly in the back of the heel.
On the other hand, plantar fasciitis is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, supporting the arch. Plantar fasciitis is typically linked to long periods of standing, wearing improper footwear, or sudden weight gain, all of which place excessive strain on the foot. Individuals with flat feet or high arches are also more prone to this condition, which leads to sharp pain in the heel, especially during the first steps in the morning.
Foot pain can also be caused by muscle imbalances, poor posture, or injuries resulting from physical activity or improper footwear. Understanding the underlying cause of your foot pain is crucial for finding the right treatment, whether you’re dealing with chronic foot pain or a recent injury. I've long been the owner of a dodgey back, family trait. About 2 years ago I had sciatica symptoms on my left side. Months of physio and gym work to resolve the debilitating pain. Almost like flicking a switch, once the sciatica was resolved, I had discomfort on the right side. If I stood still for more than a minute my right hip, lower back wound through kinda spasm, collapse, and a limp came about. I've been using chiro to manage the issue as well as a work around, management, avoiding doing things. I also had no insight into how to fix the problem. I did a PT session but quickly figured out it was likely not nuanced enough for the glute weakness/instability I have. I stumbled upon an ad on socials for Nexus, and thought this sounds niche enough to work. Blake listened to my story, symptoms, looked at my range of motion and stance. If you've ever seen a detailed bike fit conducted, Blake's visual assessment was similar to this, which gave me confidence. 3 weekly sessions, dry needling, cupping, trigger point/release, manipulation, some targeted stretches to do. He's located and treated the core issue. Targeted treatment, wow what a difference. I'm getting a glimpse at what normal for me looks like. After months of compensation, management and avoidance. I came to Blake with a bunch of muscular niggles keeping me off the bike. It was like he hit a magical reset button. Back on the bike, niggles located, addressed. Without getting ahead of myself, I feel like I've turned a corner. Blake is the missing piece of the puzzle, I'd happily refer and friends dealing with issues that can't be easily ironed out. I rarely do Google reviews, but happy to provide feedback for the true problem solver. Blake truly fits this category.
I’ve had hip stiffness for a while. I haven’t found another please that was able to help. Highly recommend
Blake has been nothing but exceptionally supportive and helpful throughout my CRPS healing journey. His work is honest and thoroughly professional all whilst being engaging and educational. I wouldn’t bother with anywhere else, honestly.
Passionate, passionate, passionate and cares immensely.
Blake is amazing. Have gone from barely being able to run 50m without pain, to now able to run multiple 400m blocks non-stop and pain free is beyond my wildest dreams. He genuinely cares and listens and offers the best advice and guidance. Everything he does is tailored specifically for you and your situation - if it is the type of training you are doing, how committed you are and what your pain tolerance is. He's been such a huge help in my ongoing maintenance and health issues, I can't say enough about how great he is!
Sammie’s massages are other worldly! She manages to get into every fibre of every muscle and creates an opening in the body that I have not found other therapists able to do. Sammie’s healing is gold to me…
